What to do if your A Level results didn't go as planned
At UC Sheffield, we’re here to help you find the right path forward, whether you’ve already applied to us or are just starting to think about university through Clearing.
First things first, don’t panic! Unexpected results can be disappointing, but they don’t define your future. Every year, thousands of students find success through alternative routes, and many still secure a place at university.
Here’s what to do next:
1. Check Your UCAS Status
Log in to your UCAS Hub to see if your firm or insurance choices have confirmed your place. Even if you didn’t meet the exact conditions of your offer, you might still have been accepted.
2. Explore UCAS Clearing
If you missed out on your entry requirements, or have decided to change your plans, Clearing is your second chance to find the right course.
You can look for something similar to your original choices, or go for something completely different. UC Sheffield has places available on a wide range of university-level courses starting this September, click here to view our vacancies!
3. Don't call us, we'll call you
If you find a UC Sheffield course you want to apply for through Clearing, get in touch with us. Why not use our Clearing Call-back scheme? All you have to do is send us your details and we'll call you back within 1 hour to discuss your application. Click here to send us your details.
4. Add your Clearing choice to your application
Once we've agreed an offer with you over the phone, you can add your choice to your UCAS application. Our Admissions Team will do all the necessary checks and confirm everything on our end. They will also invite you in to an enrolment appointment.
5. Get excited about becoming a UC Sheffield student
Now it’s time to get excited about heading to university!
Make sure to apply for any accommodation, student finance or additional support you might need before you arrive.
