Institutes of Technologies (IoTs) are leaders in the provision of high-quality, higher-level technical education and training across a range of STEM occupations and industries.

South Yorkshire Institute of Technology (SYIoT) delivers higher level technical education and is one of only 21 Institutes of Technologies (IoTs) located across England. Focused on higher education, their aim is to ensure they have people with the skills and knowledge in the region that meet employers needs, now and into the future.

WHAT IS THE SOUTH YORKSHIRE INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY (SYIOT)?

Launched in September 2023, Institute of Technologies are partnerships of employers and education providers. As one of only 21 IoTs nationally, the South Yorkshire IoT's aim is to ensure they have people with the skills and knowledge in the region that meets employer’s needs, now and into the future.

Backed by £290 million government investment nationally in state-of-the-art technology, each Institute of Technology (IoT) focuses on one or more specialisms. SYIoT provides high-quality training and qualifications in:

Specialising in Higher Technical Qualifications (HTQs), professional training and Higher Apprenticeships, the investment in facilities and cutting-edge equipment is focused on widening opportunities in higher education. The courses and qualifications on offer, including bite-size programmes, ensure that individuals should be able to access higher education to enable them to enter or re-enter employment, or upskill to support their progression within employment.

Our courses are designed and delivered with local and national employers. This gives students of all ages and backgrounds the relevant experience they need to stand out in the job market and provides employers with the reassurance that the training their staff receive can be applied to their business.

From September 2024 we'll be offering HTQs in engineering, quantity surveying, construction management and health and social care.
