What is UCAS Extra and why should you use an extra choice on UC Sheffield?
What is UCAS Extra?
Extra is another opportunity for you to gain a place at college or university if your original choices didn’t come through the way you hoped for.
If you used all five choices on your original UCAS application but you’re not currently holding any offers, you’ll be able to add another choice using Extra between 28th February and 4th July 2024.
Who can use Extra?
You can use Extra if:
- You used all five choices on your original UCAS application
- You have received a decision from all five institutions
- You aren’t holding any offers (either you weren’t accepted to any of your choices, or you have chosen to decline offers you received)
You should note that if you use Extra to add another choice you cannot reverse this to go back to your original five choices.
How do I add another choice?
Find a course you want to apply for (you can find our available courses below!) and add the details to your UCAS application.
It might be a good idea to think about related or alternative subjects to courses you’ve applied for before, as the entry requirements may be different.
What happens next?
Your application will then be considered – if you don’t hear back from the uni/college in question after 21 days, you can choose to either wait for a reply or add a new choice.
- If you receive an offer and accept it, then you’re in! Subject to meeting entry requirements of course
- If you’re not offered a place, or you choose to decline an offer, you can search for other courses and add another Extra choice
