How to create a brilliant application to study Animal Management at degree level
If you’ve always dreamed of working with animals, an Animal Management degree could be the perfect next step. But how do you make your UCAS application stand out? What are universities looking for in a future animal care professional?
The good news is that you don’t need to have grown up on a farm or have years of experience behind you. What matters most is passion, commitment, and a willingness to learn.
1. Show that you’re passionate about animal welfare

2. Highlight any hands-on experience

This could include:
- Volunteering at an animal shelter or rescue
- Caring for pets at home

3. Show that you’re willing to get stuck in
Animal care is an incredibly rewarding, but very hands-on sector! Universities want students who are ready to roll up their sleeves and get involved.
Being willing to “get stuck in” means:
- You’re prepared to work hard, even when it’s physically tough
- You’re open to trying new things and stepping outside your comfort zone
- You can work well as part of a team
- You understand that caring for animals requires responsibility and resilience
