How to use UCAS Clearing before results day
For many, UCAS Clearing is synonymous with A Level results day in mid-August, but did you know that you can actually start using Clearing as of right now?!
Keep reading to find out exactly how you can get ahead and use Clearing to your advantage.
If you’ve already applied via UCAS
If you’ve already submitted an application through UCAS but you either didn’t receive any offers, or you want to decline your offers and look for something else, you can use Clearing to find an alternative course. Here’s how:
- If you’re certain you don't want to take up any of the places you’re currently holding, you’ll need to decline them in your UCAS portal
- See what courses are available, you can view our UC Sheffield vacancies on our website, or check out the official UCAS list
- Before you add a Clearing choice in your application, you need to contact the university/college and give them your Clearing number and Personal ID (found on your application)
- Once your place has been confirmed by your chosen university/college, you can add this choice to your application. This counts as you accepting the offer, so once updated by the university it'll show as an acceptance on your 'Choices' page
- You can only add one choice at a time, but if the university/college doesn't confirm your place, you'll be able to add another.
If you have not yet submitted an application
If you haven’t applied yet but you still want to find a place to study for this September, you can use Clearing to apply before results day.
- You first need to register with UCAS and make an application
- You’ll only be able to add a choice after you’ve submitted your application
- See what courses are available, you can view our UC Sheffield vacancies on our website, or check out the official UCAS list
- Before you add a Clearing choice in your application, you need to contact the university/college and give them your Clearing number and Personal ID (found on your application)
